Brockport Downs Pioneers

Brockport started fast and took advantage of great field position as they defeated Alfred State 59-7 in front of their homecoming crowd. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the year.

Brockport scored three times in the 1st quarter and never looked back. The Pioneers got their lone score of the game midway through the 2nd quarter when Ben Wilkerson (Buffalo/Fayette Ware) connected with Romiio Littlejohn (Brooklyn/Grand Street Campus) on a 59-yard pass play.

The Eagles answered back with two more scoring drives capped off by runs by Dan Andrews (4 and 9 yards) to hold a 35-7 halftime lead. Andrews finished the day with 167 yards and three scores to pace Brockport.

After a field goal to open up the 2nd half scoring, Brockport scored three more times in the 2nd half as they took advantage of short fields (30, 20, and 45 yards).

On top of Andrews' 167 yards, Wayne Bonsell was 10 for 17 for 136 yards and two scores, and Jerry Thompson caught four passes for 74 yards and a score. Nick Vallone opened up the game with a 96-yard kickoff return.

Wilkerson finished 6 for 11 for 165 yards and a score. Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas) had two catches for 80 yards and Littlejohn had three catches for 66. The Pioneers offense was slowed down by six Eagles sacks and nine penalties.

Alex Egglinger led Brockport with eight tackles and a sack while Nathaniel Keith and Tarik Bennett each finished with six tackles and a sack.

Steven Hubick (Fountain Hills, AZ) led Alfred State with 12 tackles while John Garbowski (Mohegan Lake) added 10 tackles and a sack. Gerald Bailey (Buffalo/MST Prep) intercepted a pass.

Brockport finished with 413 total yards while Alfred State gained 189. The Pioneers were just 2 of 15 on 3rd downs and 1 of 5 on 4th.

Alfred State returns to action on October 17th when they host Apprentice at Noon at Pioneer Stadium.
