Alfred State Releases 2016 Football Schedule
The 2016 Alfred State football team will play a challenging schedule in their final season as a NCAA DIII independent school. The Pioneers will battle vs. members of the NJAC, the Empire 8, the Liberty League, and the ECFC.
The blue & gold will kick off the season at William Paterson on September 3rd before hosting Brockport (9/10) and Rochester (9/17). A three-game road trip follows with contests at Husson (9/24), Apprentice (10/1), and Dean (10/8).
Buffalo State (10/15) and Kentucky Wesleyan (10/29) visit Pioneer Stadium for the first time to conclude the home portion of the season. The Pioneers conclude the season with road trips to Maranatha Baptist (11/5) and Morrisville (11/12).
The 2016 schedule features eight contests vs. 2015 opponents. The contest vs. Dean renews the rivalry between the two former NJCAA programs and the Pioneers will battle Buffalo State for the first time in the NCAA era (Alfred State played Buffalo State JV twice).
In 2017, the Pioneers begin play in the ECFC and will play a full league schedule. Husson and Dean are members of the ECFC.
