Wilkerson Signs with Franken Knights

Alfred State quarterback Ben Wilkerson (Buffalo/Riverside) has signed a pro contract with the Franken Knights of the German Football League. Wilkerson will join the Knights following graduation in May.

Wilkerson appeared in 14 games as the Pioneers quarterback the past two seasons. He passed for 1,745 yards and 14 scores.

  • In 2015 on his way to being named 2nd team All-USCAA he passed for 1,212 yards and nine scores in the eight games he played this season. He averaged 151.5 yards per game and completed 55.6 percent of his passes. 
  • In 2014 he passed for 533 yareds and five scores. He completed 52.3% of his passes.

Wilkerson is excited about his opportunity with Franken. "I'm blessed and happy to get the opportunity to travel around the world to continue my passion and to be able to compete with the Knights for a high-class Football Club."

Knights head coach Erwin Rieger is extremely satisfied with the obligation. "Ben was our preferred candidate. He will strengthen us enormously and make it difficult on the opposing defenses."

The Knights compete in the Southern Division of the 18-team German Football League 2.
