Former Pioneer Rod Streater Signs with the Chiefs

Former Alfred State football and track & field athlete Rod Streater has signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Streater, heading into his 5th year in the NFL, spent the previous four seasons with the Oakland Raiders.

Streater will look to compete for the Chiefs #2 wide reciever job and to bounce back from the 2015 season. In 2015, Streater appeared in one game and made one catch (8 yards). During his four year tenure in Oakland, he played in 36 games making 109 catches for 1,564 yards and eight scores. His best season came in 2013 when he caught 60 passes for 888 yards and four TD's.

Streater was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Temple University by the Raiders immediately following the 2012 NFL Draft.

  • At Temple, Streater caught 49 passes for 882 yards and seven scores.
  • This follows a 2009 season at Alfred State where he caught 24 passes for 539 yards and six scores.  During his freshman season wearing the blue & gold, Streater played safety on the defensive side of the ball and picked up 20 tackles and picked off two passes. Streater was also an All-American high jumper.

Streater, a fan and locker room favorite with the Raiders, was recipient of the Ed Block Courage award from Oakland at the end of the 2015 season.
