Former Pioneer Rasheed Williams Drafted in MLFB

Alfred State all-time rushing leader Rasheed Williams was drafted by Team Cottrell in the inaugural Major League Football draft on Saturday. The new spring football league featuring eight teams is slated to start play this spring.

Williams wore the blue & gold during the 2014 and 2015 seasons after earning NJCAA All-American honors at Louisburg (NC) College. In 2015 he rushed for 1,676 yards and 16 scores in nine games. He recorded over 100 yards rushing in eight of the team's nine contests and averaged 6.7 yards per carry and 186.2 yards per game. At the end of the 2015 season he was named All-USCAA 1st team and to the All-ECAC North 1st team. 

During his two-year career he broke or tied eleven records including single season rushing yards (1,676), career rushing yards (2,693) and rushing touchdowns in a career (26).

Williams was signed by the Detroit Lions moments after the 2015 NFL Draft and participated in rookie and pre-training camp activities.

MLFB teams are slated to play a ten game season and all games are slated to be broadcasted on the American Sports Network.

Williams will play for the team led by Ted Cottrell. Cotrell, a former NFL assistant coach with Kansas City, Buffalo, Arizona, New York Jets, Minnesota, and San Diego. He played in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons after being a 7th round draft pick out of Delaware Valley.
