Week in Review:

Cross Country:

After a few weeks of preparation, the cross country team will host the AMCC Championships on Saturday. The men race at 11 a.m. followed by the women at 12:15 p.m.

Football: 3-4, 2-1 ECFC

Dawson Fontaine (Bensalem, PA) connected on a 18-yard field goal with 1:25 left to lift Alfred State to a big 24-21 ECFC victory over previously unbeaten Gallaudet.

Gallaudet jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the 1st half. Aaron Jenkins (Canfield, OH) connected with Ben Ba (Harlem/Park East) on a 13-yard pass play late in the 1st half and on the Pioneers first possession of the 2nd half, Jenkins tied the game when he rushed in from four yards out.

Gallaudet scored on their next possession but the Pioneer defense stepped up the rest of the way. They put together back-to-back 4th down stands and on the second they used the momentum to put together the game tying drive. The scoring drive was just three plays and covered 81 yards. Jenkins rushed for six yards, connected with Jake Palmer on a 26-yard pass play, and then found Roman Napoleon (Allegany Limestone) down the middle for a 49-yard pass play. Napoleon was able to run under the pass and make a fingertip catch.

On the Bisons next drive, Brock Weist (Harpursville) recovered a fumble on the Gallaudet 26 to set up the winning drive. On a key 3rd and Goal play from the Gallaudet 13, Jenkins kept the ball and rushed it to the one-yard line. The Pioneers let time click off the clock and after a timeout, Fontaine set up for the short field goal that gave the Pioneers their first lead.

Gallaudet didn't go away as they returned the ensuing kickoff all the way to the Pioneer 25. The Bison gained five yards on three plays and set-up for a game tying 37-yard field goal that went wide right.

Jenkins was 14 for 25 for 223 yards with two touchdowns and rushed for 105 yards on 18 carries. Napoleon caught six passes for 132 yards and a score.

Te'Hari Campbell (Auburn) led the defense with 12 tackles. Joel Smith (Livonia) and Silas Egenlauf (Spencerport) both chipped in 10 tackles while Jeremiah Nixon (Staten Island/Curtis) finished with 9. Smith recorded the lone sack of the game. Weist had the big fumble recovery to go along with eight tackles.

Men's Soccer: 5-10, 2-6 AMCC

The Pioneers split a pair of AMCC matches this past week. They fell 1-0 in a hard fought battle vs. Penn State Behrend but bounced back for a 4-0 win over La Roche.

Thad Grierson (Perry) made five stops vs. Behrend and held the top team in the AMCC to just one goal. The Pioneers had some chances but could not get the equalizer.

Camren Larabee (Cuba Rushford) scored a pair of goals in the victory over La Roche. He scored in the 12th and 67th minute. Anthony Smith (Springville Griffith) and Farhan Abdi (Rochester/School of the Arts) added insurance goals in the final six minutes. Grierson made two saves to record the shutout.

Women's Soccer: 4-9, 1-6 AMCC

The women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Penn State Behrend and 4-0 on the road at La Roche.

Giana DiMora (Greece Olympia) made 14 saves in her first collegiate start vs. Behrend.

The Pioneers had chances vs. La Roche but couldn't find the back of the net as the Redhawks defeated the Pioneers. Both teams finished the game with nine shots.

Swimming & Diving: Men 2-0, Women 2-0

The Pioneers had the week off and dive into AMCC action this weekend at Penn State Behrend.

Volleyball: 15-2, 5-1 AMCC

The Pioneers saw their winning streak snapped in a 16-25, 23-25, 16-25 loss at Penn State Behrend but got back on the winning track with a 25-17, 25-11, 25-17 victory over La Roche.

Racquel Gerstenberger (Schoharie) had a big week as she led the team with 21 kills and chipped in 17 digs. Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) finished the pair of matches with 18 kills, 15 digs, and six aces while Nayomie Ferrer (Eastridge) chipped in 61 assists, 25 digs, and four aces. Faith McCombs (Amityville/Copiague) chipped in 11 kills while Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD) finished with 10 kills.
