Week in Review:

Baseball (5-15)

The Pioneers went 3-0 last week beating Houghton 12-2, RIT 6-2 and St. John Fisher 4-3.

Matteo Avallone was named the AMCC Player of the Week for the second time this season.

In the Pioneers three wins last week he recorded a .636 batting average, 1.182 slugging percentage and hit his seventh home run of the season, which he leads the conference in. He also leads the AMCC in RBIs with 23 and is tied for second in batting average with .457.

In their 12-2 win over Houghton, Avallone was walked four times, had one run and one RBI.

In their 6-2 win over RIT, he went 3-for-5 including a two-run homer.

The very next day he went 4-for-5 with another two-run homer.

Softball (3-9)

The Pioneers lost two games to Nazareth last week.

Women's Track and Field:

Nicole Hume (Alexander) started off the 2022 outdoor track and field season by moving into the ninth spot on the Alfred State All-Time list for hammer throw.

Hume threw 33.91m (111-3) at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna on Friday to place 24th overall. She finished 10th in discus with a throw of 33.53m (110-0).

The 4x100-meter relay of Alyssa Delany (Hornell), Madison Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer), Madeline Cole (Homer) and My'ana Davis (Rochester/Greece Athena) finished 8th in 53.24.

The 4x400-meter relay of Marina Miketish (Olean), Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis), Cole and Sarah Rivet (Waterford/Shenendehowa) placed 11th in 4:38.26.

Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD/Francis Scott Key) was 8th in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.46 and 9th in high jump with 1.50m (4-11).

Men's Track and Field:

Dylan Perlino (Holland) has been named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Field Athlete of the Week after starting off the 2022 outdoor track and field season being national ranked third in discus and 13th in hammer.

Perlino won discus with a throw of 48.64m (159-7) at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna.

He broke his own program record in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.87m (166-10) to finish fourth overall. In shot put he threw 11.88m (38-11 ¾) to place 14th.

Zach Rudewicz-Nepokroeff (Williamsville East) finished 5th in long jump in 6.24m (20-5 ¾).

The 4x100-meter relay of Cameron Howard (Brockport), Shawn Rosa (Middletown), Rudewicz-Nepokroeff and Esaias Brumfield (Warners/West Genesee) finished 7th in 44.84.

Gavin Bathgate (East Rochester) placed 8th in the 10,000-meters in 33:17.88 and 17th in the 5,000-meters in 15:47.20.

Rosa was 10th in the 400-meters in52.85.

Jesse Johnson (Horseheads) finished 11th in high jump in 1.80m (5-10 ¾).

Derek Walter (Lancaster) was 13th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.05.
